Pure Joy Staff Update Day 1
Location: West End, Tortola
Day 1 of this summers third session is finally here! We are all so excited for the seventeen day adventure that is about to begin. For the past few days the entire ActionQuest staff has been working tirelessly in order to prepare the fleet for the upcoming session. Pure Joy, our home for the next few weeks, has been stuffed to the gills with food, water and fuel in preparation for our students arrival. I cannot express how excited we are to sail away on our next journey with a whole new group of incredible students!
Here is an introduction to the crew of Pure Joy:
Emelia- skipper/dive instructor
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Emelia started with ActionQuest in 2008 as a shipmate. She joined the AQ staff as a Divemaster in 2013 and is now a PADI Scuba Instructor and Yachtmaster 200ton captain. Emelia graduated from the University of San Diego in December 2016 and is moving to Los Angeles to work in film. When Emelia is not sailing or scuba diving, you can find her writing her next screenplay or flying through the air on a trapeze.
Davis- dive instructor/mate
Davis graduated from Eckerd College in 2015 with a creative writing major, and has spent his summers working at ActionQuest and teaching diving in the Bahamas. Since graduating he has spent more time diving in the Bahamas, as well as working on yachts and sailboats in the Caribbean and Florida.
Alisa- dive instructor/mate
Alisa was raised in North Florida and has never been far from the water. She was a competitive swimmer for nine years and has been diving since she was sixteen. Her passion for scuba and the undersea world has only increased over the years. Alisa studied ecotourism in college and became a PADI scuba instructor in 2014. When shes not in the water, her hobbies include being around food as much as possible and having a near unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter. She enjoys engaging with people and teaching and encouraging people to love the water and its inhabitants as much as she does! This is her third year working with the ActionQuest family and she is more than excited to continue this adventure!
