Wind Shadow Staff Update Day 1
Location: West End, Tortola
The whole team has been waiting all year but ActionQuest 2017 is finally here! Jake, Emma and Kayleigh are super excited to welcome the 11 shipmates to the ActionQuest family. The last two weeks of training/preparation has gone fantastic and Wind Shadow is now ready and loaded with food/snacks and equipment for the adventure ahead. From all the crew on Wind Shadow, we can’t wait for you to get here and have an awesome summer with us! See you soon!
Here is an introduction to the crew of Wind Shadow:
Jake- skipper/WFR
Easily recognizable by the constant smile on his face, Jake coordinates half of the Vega fleet. Brought into diving by his mom, Jake has experience diving all over the world, from the murky, freezing waters of the Great Lakes to the warm, clear waters of the Caribbean. After retuning home from a life- changing trip with ActionQuest in2005, Jake knew he had to become involved with the program. Now as a skipper and PADI instructor, Jake strives to provide his shipmates with the same incredible experience he had as a student. Jake recently made the move to Sarasota, and manages enrollment and business development for ActionQuest
Kayleigh- dive instructor/mate
Born in Warwickshire, United Kingdom, Kayleigh has spent most of her life traveling all over the world exploring new environments and cultures. Following her love of the ocean, she completed her PADI Open Water course in 2012 and was immediately captivated. In 2013, she graduated from Plymouth University, UK, with a BSc Hons Degree in Conservation Biology. Shortly after she headed to Utila, Honduras for 6 months training from advanced open water to PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, IYT Dive Boat Mate, and International Association for Handicapped Divers (IAHD) Instructor. Aside from scuba diving Kayleigh loves to cook, she enjoys anything adventurous from trekking the Great Wall of China for charity to taking her dogs on country walks, and any excuse to get out the house. She is excited to ditch her dry suit for warmer climates.
Emma- mate/WFR
Emmanuelle was born in rural Vermont, and from a young age has been involved in environmental conservation and education. After catching the sailing bug on a Seamester program in 2015, Emma pursued an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore certification, Wilderness First Responder certification, and has worked with GoBeyond in Ecuador and the BVI. She looks forward to her first summer with ActionQuest and sharing a love of sailing and adventure with her students. When not sailing, Emma can be found hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking or enjoying a hammock and a nice cup of tea.
