British Virgin Islands - 2016, Session 2

Staff Update Day 1

Location: West End, Tortola

Arrival day and the start to a wonderful adventure is almost upon us! Jess, Fritz, and I have been eagerly preparing for the journey our crew is about to embark on. Jess has been thoughtfully running through all of the system checks onboard the vessel, while Fritz has been organizing all of the small boat sailing as well as wakeboarding gear. Meanwhile I have been helping gather and organize all of the dive gear, getting ready for some of the most beautiful dives in the world. We are all so excited to meet the newest members of our crew, and to get going on what’s going to be the best summer ever!

Here is an introduction to the crew of Caribbean Soul Too:

Jess: Skipper/Medic

Jessica brings a wealth of sailing and teaching experience to the field. A native of Pennsylvania, she has sailed and coached dinghies and keelboats around the world. Jessica discovered her passion for maintaining and restoring wooden boats while working aboard tall ships. She currently works as a 7th grade teacher at The Exploris School in Raleigh, North Carolina. She loves adventures and enjoys sailing and climbing. Jessica is really excited to work on the AQ team this summer.

Alex: Dive Instructor/Mate

Over the past six years Alex has become deeply involved with every water sport imaginable. His biggest hobby currently is diving for dinosaur bones and colonial artifacts in the immense river system of his hometown, Charleston, SC. Alex is currently enrolled at Clemson University and studies Financial Management. He believes that Clemson football is #1 and next season will be the year that they take the National Championship trophy from Alabama. Alex is truly ecstatic about teaching diving this summer and can’t wait to share his knowledge and love of the water with everyone!

Fritz: Divemaster/Mate

Fritz was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and now lives in Virginia. He grew up sailing Hobie Cats in South Carolina, which instilled a love for the sea in him. He currently holds his 200 Ton Yachtmaster Limited certification and is a Divemaster. Fritz is studies Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia, where he is the Fleet Captain of the UVA sailing team. When he's not on the water, he enjoys rock climbing/bouldering. Fritz joined AQ in 2015 as the skipper of Manic Compression; coming back to the program this year he looks forward to teaching sailing and leading dives.
