Tiger Pause Staff Update Day One
Location: West End, Tortola
We've waved goodbye to the last of our second session shipmates, and are now preparing ourselves and the boat for the arrival of our new crew. The boat needs to be 'fooded,' and all of the scuba and watersports gear needs to be checked. By the time the first shipmate steps on the dock, we will be ready to show our crew an amazing time and take them on a journey they will never forget. On our trip, we will go from strangers to a tightly knit crew, and as a bonus, we will get to do a lot of fun activities along the way. I can't wait to greet our new shipmates and throw off our dock lines to sail into the distance in search of another adventure.
Here's an introduction to the crew of Tiger Pause:
Patrick: skipper
Linda: dive instructor/mate
Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Linda spent a great deal of her upbringing on sailing boats, and she knew at a young age that she wanted to pursue a career at sea. At the age of sixteen, she moved to the U.S. to follow a dream about a professional hockey career but later returned to Sweden to attend the University of Uppsala. While at the university, she obtained her PADI scuba instructor license and worked abroad in Greece and Spain in the summers. She graduated with a B.Sc. in molecular biology, and went on to study an M.Sc. in environmental toxicology, and was given a stipend to do her project on crocodiles in Costa Rica. Linda loves adventure and is planning to sail around the world as soon as possible. This will be her third summer at ActionQuest, and she is very excited to inspire young individuals to challenge themselves to achieve unimaginable things.
Emelia: dive instructor/mate
Originally from Washington, DC, Emelia started with ActionQuest in 2008 as a shipmate, having never been sailing or scuba diving before. She continued as a student for six summers, in 2013 earning her Divemaster certification and entering the AQ staff team. Emelia now holds her PADI Open Water SCUBA Instructor license, as well as her 200ton Master of Yachts certification. Outside the AQ world, Emelia is a full-time student at the University of San Diego, where she studies marine science and anthropology and trains with a local circus as an aerial acrobat.
