British Virgin Islands - 2015, Session 2

Staff Update Day 1

Location: West End, Tortola

Cat, Davis, and I cannot wait to welcome our students to their new home. Everyone has worked tirelessly over the past two days to get everything ready for an amazing session. Or 46 foot home, Luna Kahuna, has been filled with food, water, and diesel. Dive gear and PADI books have been loaded. All the gear necessary to train rescue divers is all onboard. We can not wait to get back on the water and explore all that the BVI has to offer.
Here is an introduction to the crew of Luna Kahuna:
Cat: Skipper
Cat is so excited to be returning for another incredible summer of adventure with ActionQuest! She still remembers the first time she went diving when she was 15. Her dad took her to visit the Great Barrier Reef, and she recalls surfacing from the dive and yelling, "DAD! I want to do this for the rest of my life!" With the support of her wonderful parents, that is exactly what she set out to do. The next few summers, she went to an adventure camp where she earned her advanced diving certifications and had the time of her life. In 2008 she landed an internship where she earned her PADI Dive Instructor certification and began teaching. While studying at the University of Puget Sound, she decided to take a semester to sail aboard Argo with Seamester from South Africa to Antigua and went on to earn her Yachtmaster License later that fall. Cat's experiences with sailing and diving have changed the course of her life for the better, and she is so overjoyed to be able to pay it forward this summer. It is truly a dream come true to be able to teach sailing and diving with AQ!
Davis: Dive Instructor/Mate
Davis Nunneley grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, where he learned to dive at a young age with his father and brother. Knowing he loved adventure, he spent a lot of time torn between diving and rock climbing, his other passion. But, after gaining his Rescue Diver certification through ActionQuest in 2009, he realized his love for the water swamped that of the mountains and went on to become a dive instructor in 2012. Davis recently graduated from Eckerd College and hopes to continue working as a dive instructor in his time in between summers at ActionQuest.
Adam: Dive Instructor/Mate
Adam is from Scarsdale, NY, and started as an ActionQuest shipmate in 2011. He immediately fell in love with ActionQuest, diving, and sailing, and has been back every summer since. He worked his way up from Open Water diver through Divemaster, all with AQ. This is now his first summer as staff. Adam is an Open Water Scuba Instructor and holds numerous specialty instructor certifications. During the year, Adam is studying Biology and is pre-med at Washington University in St. Louis, where he is also on the sailing team.
