British Virgin Islands - 2015, Session 1

Staff Update Day 1

Location: West End, Tortola

Welcome to Rossi! The staff have been spending the last couple of weeks preparing for this day and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our eleven shipmates. We have stocked the boat with dry food, fresh food, PADI open water diving manuals, IYT sailing books, waterski gear, medical supplies, cleaning supplies, and everything else necessary to run an awesome trip- now we just need the crew! Our shipmates are from Florida, Washington, DC, Connecticut, Virginia, Puerto Rico, Illinois and Georgia, and are all part of the Vega (intro to sailing and diving) program. We can't wait to go on our first sail and snorkel tomorrow, and for all the adventures to come! For additional updates during the trip, follow ActionQuest on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat!

Here is an introduction to the staff of Rossi:
David- skipper
David grew up on California coasts, and when he wasn't invested in his schooling, he was either involved in an aquatic summer program or traveling around the Middle East, Europe, and Central America. Forever indebted to his parents, David was fortunate enough to learn sailing at the age of 8, scuba diving at 13 and various other aquatic sports in the times in between. In 2013 David's life dramatically shifted after Sea|Mester when his eyes were opened to the vast world of yachting. Thanks to his incredible experiences onboard S/Y Argo, David dedicated his free time to receiving his certificate as a Master of Yachts 200 gross ton Offshore through the Royal Yachting Association and used this license to work in the Adriatic and other parts of the Mediterranean.
Max- dive instructor/mate
Born and raised in London, UK, Max longed to escape the city and grew up with a passion for adventure. He started diving with his dad at age 11 and learned to sail on an icy lake at school. When he joined AQ as a shipmate in 2008 he fell in love with the BVI and knew he would come back one day. Max became a Divemaster in Egypt and then returned home to study at Cambridge University, where he ran the scuba diving club and learned to love the chilly waters of the UK. But he longed to return to the tropics and after earning his bachelor's and master's degrees in biology, he moved to Indonesia to become a PADI Instructor. Max can't wait to share his passion for diving, sailing and marine science this summer.
Anna- EMT/mate
Anna grew up in landlocked Western Massachusetts and discovered her love for the sea when she became an ActionQuest shipmate at age 16. After two summers as a shipmate and a year of high school on board S/Y Ocean Star, she joined the ActionQuest staff in 2000. Anna graduated in 2004 from the University of Vermont with degrees in psychology and sociology and spent four years volunteering as an EMT on a local ambulance. During the year Anna lives in Washington, DC and spends her free time volunteering with a local dog rescue organization.
