Staff Update
Location: West End, Tortola
The sun is shining, and there is excitement in the air as we finish preparing our yachts for the arrival of our shipmates. The weather here in the BVI is perfect for sailing and SCUBA diving, and we can't wait to begin sharing our passions with all of the shipmates arriving today. To welcome the shipmates to their new home, we have stocked Tiger Pause with fresh food, clean linens, and good vibes. With only hours before the student's arrival, the staff of Tiger Pause, Andy, Rachael, and Aiar are making the final preparations for what will be an exciting adventure!
Here is an introduction to the staff of Tiger Pause:
Andy- skipper
Andy grew up in sunny southern California, where he learned how to sail at a young age and has been sailing competitively for over 20 years. He has been a part of the US Sailing Team and has raced in exotic locations all around the world and holds a 200-ton captain's license. In addition to his extensive sailing background, he is a seasoned SCUBA diver, and a PADI certified Divemaster. Andy attended the University of California, San Diego, and holds a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, and when not teaching at ActionQuest, he works Moog Aircraft Group designing aircraft components and actuation systems. Andy has a passion for teaching and has hopes to continue in education for the rest of his life and is currently applying to continue his education to get a Ph.D. in an applied sciences discipline. This will be Andy's 5thconsecutive year as a staff member of ActionsQuest and loves every moment spent here in the islands.
Aiar- dive instructor
Aiar knew right after his first dive that he would become a dive instructor. He was 8 when he tried scuba for the first time and 18 when he got his PADI instructor license. He and his dive partner are among the few who hold the Life Safety Award from National Speleological Society Cave Diving Section. Currently, he is working on becoming the world's best dentist. Besides diving and school, he enjoys riding his bicycle, swimming, running, exploring underwater caves, and participating in Ironman competitions. He chose to work for ActionQuest, so his love of the ocean and the sport could be shared. He hopes that this experience of diving will open new doors for traveling and learning new things through hands-on experiences.
Rachael- dive instructor
Rachael is so excited to return for her 2nd summer working at ActionQuest! Rachael was a student of AQ for six years before becoming a divemaster and eventually an Open Water Scuba Instructor in 2013. Rachael is a junior biology student at Auburn University and cant wait to share her passion for diving and the ocean with all her students. In addition to diving, Rachael is a talented singer and can always be spotted humming a tune from a musical or an opera.
