Staff Update
Location: West End, Tortola
The staff members on Elowyn Sage are all so stoked for the shipmates to arrive! We have spent the past few days preparing for the huge group of arrivals to get here. Everything from cleaning to restocking the ships with food is keeping us busy. Nick, Anna, and Matt cannot wait to meet the new shipmates and teach them the ways of sailing and scuba.
Here is an introduction to the staff of Elowyn Sage:
Nick- skipper
Nick was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida. He is 26 years old and began sailing at the age of 15 as a student at ActionQuest. He studied criminal justice at the University of Mississippi, where he graduated in 2010. Since then, he has worked on mega yachts as a first mate. He has worked for AQ for 5summers.
Anna- mate/EMT
Anna joined ActionQuest as a shipmate when she was 16 and completed her senior year of high school aboard S/Y OceanStar. A 2004 graduate from the University of Vermont, with degrees in psychology and sociology, Anna also holds an EMT certification and volunteered on an ambulance while at school. Anna has worked with AQ since the summer of 2000, and in addition to her medical duties, she is also in charge of managing the trip update system and ship stores. During the year, Anna lives in Washington, DC, and enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews and volunteering for a local dog rescue.
Matt- dive instructor
Matt was born and raised in sunny Sarasota, Florida. He is currently working on a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology and attends the University of Alabama. Matt pursued his professional certifications after being a shipmate from 2009 to 2013. He is certified as an Open Water Scuba Instructor but recently received specialty instructor certifications in Search and Recovery, Night Diving, Deep Diving, Underwater Navigation, and Enriched Air. He is in the process of pursuing the next level of professional diving and will soon be working towards his professional sailing certifications. Other than his interests in the ocean, Matt is also an accomplished musician in both the composition of piano music in the classical genre and productions of more modern dance records with both his own music and collaborations.
