Staff Update!
Location: West End, Tortola
The sun is shining, and the staff of Catalinaville is anxiously awaiting the arrival of our shipmates!! We have fresh sheets, fresh fruit, and we can't wait to meet our students traveling in from France, Canada, and all across the United States. This session, we are going to have so much fun, tagging turtles, visiting schools, and helping out around the community. We will work with amazing organizations and people during our 20-day circumnavigation. Our first stop will be Norman Island. We will sail over tomorrow afternoon and start off with a swim test. I hope the shipmates are as excited as we are!!
Here is an introduction to the staff of Catalinaville:
Elliot- skipper
Elliot joined the team in 2010, playing a supportive role for the international programs and has since worked for Lifeworks and ActionQuest each summer between Ecuador, The Galapagos, and The British Virgin Islands. Since acquiring a bachelor's degree in music, he has decided to pursue a passion for outdoor and service education with an emphasis on marine/maritime environments. Elliot spends a fair amount of the year sailing competitively and holds an IYT Master of Yachts certificate. He has recently completed training in wilderness medicine and aims to continue learning from students in experiential settings.
Kelly- mate
Kelly grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated from the University of Arkansas. She sailed with our college program Sea|mester onboard S/Y Argo in the fall of 2012. Since then, she has explored her passion for sailing and scuba diving by obtaining her IYT Master of Yachts and PADI Divemaster certification. Kelly joined our office team in the Spring of 2013 and works with Lifeworks admissions and enrollments during the year. This will be her first summer in the islands, and she is so excited to meet the students she has been working with over the past year!
Jamie- Divemaster
Jamie is from Colorado, where she enjoys snowboarding and hiking. She will be attending Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, after she takes three months off school to backpack around India, learning about service leadership and cultural immersion. This is her 3rd summer at AQ and is now a staff member after completing her DiveMaster certification this past session. She has previously completed both the Dolphin and Rescue Course. Jamie is so excited to be on Lifeworks as community service has always been a passion of hers.
