British Virgin Islands - 2013, Session 2

Staff Update Day 1

Location: West End

The staff on board Peeps Larou have been working hard to make sure she is in tip-top shape for the new students' arrival. It was heartbreaking to see our previous shipmates leave, but we are extremely excited to meet all our new ones. We have spent the past two days productively cleaning, fooding, and watering all the boats. All the dive gear has been cleaned, tested, and sorted. Bryant, Cayley, and I have been dry out of the water for three days now, and we consider that way too long! We can't wait to jump back in and go diving with our new shipmates!

Here is an introduction to the crew of Peeps:

Bryant- skipper/dive instructor

As a native of Sarasota, Florida Bryant grew up on the water and began diving at age 14. He attended the New College of Florida where he earned an honors degree in environmental science and simultaneously achieved his scuba instructor rating and US Coast Guard Master Captain's license. During his undergraduate career, Bryant was involved in shark research with the Mote Marine Laboratory and scientific diving. Since graduating Bryant has traveled around the world spending time in Australia, Southern Africa and the Virgin Islands working as a captain, dive instructor, and field biologist. Bryant joined AQ in 2012 as a skipper, dive instructor, and biologist. He looks forward to returning to these roles in 2013.

Cayley- mate/dive instructor

Cayley hails from Vancouver, Canada. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a focus on Human Geography and Asian Studies, and has since spent her time adventuring; teaching scuba abroad or leading eco-tours in her hometown. When she isn't underwater, you'll find her on her bike, on her skis, or playing with other people's dogs. This is Cayley's second stint with AQ, and she's pumped to dive the Chikuzen. She has a HUGE passion for the ocean.

Kelli- mate/dive instructor

Kelli was born and raised on a remote island in southeast Alaska. For many summers she crewed on commercial fishing vessels for Alaskan salmon. Yes, it was exactly like the TV show, The Deadliest Catch ;). In high school, Kelli instantly fell in love with sailing and scuba diving while vacationing in the BVIs. Since then, she sailed across the Atlantic Ocean with Sea|mester. She also spent six months in Thailand, completing her diving internship with Mermaids Dive Center. She has her USCG Master 100 Ton Inland certification and is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. Kelli likes wreck diving, Chai tea, her dog Penny, and sailing around on her 25ft sailboat back home in Alaska.
