British Virgin Islands - 2012, Session 2

Staff Update Day 1

Location: West End, Tortola

The second session has arrived! The crew of Wicked Good couldn't be more excited to welcome our group of 12 shipmates today. They are coming from all over the world and the US, including Canada, France, Venezuela, England, Spain, New York, Nebraska, and North Carolina! Jason, Evan, and I spent the past couple days making sure the boat is ready- stowing food, ski gear, snorkel equipment, linens, etc., planning our diving and sailing schedules, and cleaning, of course! We can't wait to meet our students and start another great session at ActionQuest!

Here is an introduction to the crew of Wicked Good:

Jason- skipper

Jason grew up his father's 175 ft. Schooner, and has sailed in the BVI every summer since he was six years old. In 1997 he spent two years sailing around the world with two friends and has most recently been working on private yachts in Europe. He has a B.A. in Human Services, a 200 ton Master of Yachts Oceans license, and is a glider pilot. In his free time, he enjoys building and restoring classic Land Rovers.

Evan- dive instructor/mate

Evan was born in Buffalo, New York and lived the first ten years of his life along the east coast of the United States. After that, he moved to the Middle East to spend his next eight years in Doha, Qatar. After graduating from high school in Qatar, he moved back to the US to attend university. As of this summer, he is a rising sophomore at the University of Miami studying Marine Science and Biology. He spends most of his weekends underwater with the University of Miami Scuba Club. After three trips with AQ as a shipmate, he decided to come back as a PADI Scuba Instructor (with MSDT and EFR ratings) along with side specialties in DAN O2 First Aid and Equipment Repair.

Anna- mate/EMT

Anna grew up in landlocked Western Massachusetts and discovered her love for the sea when she became an ActionQuest shipmate at age 16. After two summers as a shipmate and a year of high school on board S/Y Ocean Star, she joined the ActionQuest staff in 2000. Anna graduated in 2004 from the University of Vermont with degrees in psychology and sociology and spent four years volunteering as an EMT on a local ambulance. In her off time, she works at a kid's toy store and enjoys playing with her roommate's dogs.
