British Virgin Islands - 2012, Session 2

Staff Update Day One

Location: West End, Tortola

It's been a hectic few days since the end of session one for the crew of Panasea, Cayley, Marina, and myself. As I write we are in the midst of some last minute preparations. We are loading three weeks of non-perishable food items, including favorite snacks like Pringles, and a few days of perishable items such as vegetables and bread. Along with food, we are loading all kinds of other goodies. Dive gear, marine biomaterials, and cameras for the Dolphins, PADI manuals for all our diving courses, and other fun toys like wakeboards! Our first arrival should be here in a few short hours, and the crew of Panasea can't wait to greet them!

Here is an introduction to the crew of Panasea:

Bryant- skipper/dive instructor

Bryant is a native of Sarasota, Florida, and was first certified in diving at age 14. While attending The New College of Florida, he became a PADI Divemaster, then Instructor, and obtained a 50 Ton Master Captain's License. He has worked as a captain and dives professionally in Florida since 2008. During school Bryant also interned with the Mote Marine Laboratory Center for Shark Research and was involved in captive and field studies of Florida's coastal shark species. He graduated in May of 2011 with an honors degree in Environmental Science with a focus on the marine environment. Since graduating Bryant has traveled around the world spending time in Australia and Southern Africa working as a dive instructor and volunteering as a field biologist.

Marina- dive instructor/mate/Wilderness First Responder

Marina joined the ActionQuest team in 2006 as a shipmate. This will be her second year working as a dive instructor, Wilderness First Responder, and scientist for the Dolphin program. During the year Marina is finishing up her final year studying biology at Florida State University when she's not teaching diving or sailing with the sailing team.

Cayley- dive instructor/mate

Cayley hails from Vancouver, Canada. After graduating from the University of British Columbia with a double major in geography and Asian studies, she began splitting her time between diving in SE Asia and working as a tour guide aboard a whale watching boat in Western Canada. When she's not in or on the water, you'll find Cayley on the ski hills, or playing outside in general. This is Cayley's first year with ActionQuest.
