Jessica earned her B.S. in Marine Science from the University of Delaware and her M.S. in Marine Biology and Ecology from the University of Miami, where she conducted research in coral ecology and restoration as a member of the Coral Reef Futures Lab. During undergrad, Jessica had various experiences in the marine sciences. She sailed with Seamester in 2018 aboard S/Y Argo from Cape Town, South Africa to Antigua; worked as a marine science instructor at a residential summer camp; and conducted research on phytoplankton distribution along the California coastline with the NASA Student Airborne Research Program. She also worked with NASA DEVELOP to evaluate methods for predicting flash drought events in the Ohio River Basin. During her Master’s, you could often find her on research dives, collecting data underwater and outplanting different species of corals across sites off the Miami coast and bringing samples back to lab for analysis. Currently, Jessica teaches high school marine science and works as a Research Associate with MADE SAFE, a non-profit working to eliminate the use of harmful chemicals from the marketplace by evaluating personal care products for human and environmental toxicity.
