Today I woke up on the bench, sad, realizing it was our last day. I quickly got dressed and hopped into the dinghy because there was a meeting for all of the skippers telling everyone the route for the race. Every skipper from each boat picked out of the hat to see where everyone was going to line up. I picked last, and we got the 9th spot to windward. I quickly ate cereal for breakfast, and after everyone cleaned up, we did our race day tradition. We motored over to the starting point, and from a countdown from ten, we started our race. The race was so fun, sitting on the high side of the boat, looking at the water and mountains trying to make sure that I would remember this view forever. Sadly, we did not win the race, but we had so much fun dancing to the music the whole time. After our final sail of the trip, we docked Breakaway next to all of the other boats in the camp. We worked so hard scrubbing and cleaning the inside and outside of the boat for the next campers, and finally, we got to go on shore. We’ve been to West end one time before, so we already know where everything is, and I got to buy a super cute sweatshirt that I wanted since the last time we came here. After an hour or two of shore time, everyone in the camp started taking showers at the dock with our saltwater buckets. We all scooped up the salt water from one singular bucket and poured them all over ourselves. Out of every single fun shower we’ve had, this one was my favorite because it was full of smiles and music. After showers, we did our last squeeze on the bow, which was so sad, and now we’re just about to head off to the barbecue.
