Location: Marina Cay
Everyone on Zourite is on the best sleep cycles. We pass out at like nine and wake up in the morning way before we have to. So after our casual 6:30 am wake-up, we had some cereal, but we had to rush our cleanup. Squeakybrat showed up early to the Dogs, where we moored overnight, to drop off the Quest students and divers for the first rotation of the day. The Quest students were led by some of the Bella Vita DMs on their snorkel, so everyone on Zourite got to go on a fun dive. The Dogs is a really cool dive site because it has an awesome swim through. It starts out very narrow, then expands to a big underwater cavern full of grouper and lined with coral and sponges. After the fun dive, it was like a quickfire rotation day. The Squeaky students were replaced by Rossi Vegas. After them, some of the advanced students came, and Boyd got to dive the plane wreck with them. Once all the advanced students returned to their boat, the DMs, who still had to complete some of their skills, got in and knocked them out. Throughout all of this, the DMs had to outfit students with gear and help them with their buddy checks and giant strides. Jake lost an odds are and had to shave the bottom of his beard, leaving him with giant mutton chops that connect to his mustache. Ivan promised to shave tomorrow, and we’re all excited to see what he will do. Fritz from Manic Compression, came over and hung out with us between tank runs. After all the diving and shenanigans, we ate lunch, and it was time to slip our mooring. We had a short motor across the channel to Marina Cay. Bella Vita took our spot next to Celestial Storm on the dock, so Jake had us pick up a mooring ball without any help from him, and we did it perfectly! A few minutes later, we dropped the mooring and circled the harbor waiting for the dock to open up, and a dolphin was following us around! When space opened, Jake had me dock the boat, something I’ve never done before, and I did it successfully, so I’m pretty proud of that. We got some shore time while we were filling our water tanks, so we all enjoyed some ice cream at the shop. After dinner tonight, we are listening to a tape, something we’ve all done many times, so we know what we’re in for.
