Hiiiiii. Today was a very eventful day. It started off with watch team 3 having the 12-4 am watch. Their watch was very foggy, windy, rainy, and cold. However, they got to sheet out on the stay sails and gain some speed. Towards the end of their watch, Mina and Greyson did wake-ups for watch team 1. When the watch team’s watch started, the wind was still blowing, so Nick decided it was time to go ahead and put more sails up. With Nick at the helm, watch team 1 started putting up the main sail and the jib. Hays, Ella, and Payton went to set the forward running back stay while Rooke got to go on the bow sprit to remove the sail ties from the jib. After sailing for 3 hours.. WE WERE SAILING!!! Then watch team two had watch, and Zac went back to the heads. However, Alex’s watch got cut short because he was the sous chef with Lanie, and Brig was the head chef. To fill you in, they cannot cook at all, as if it were bad. It started when Alex sat down in front of my bed and woke me up by tapping my head with a creepy smile and asking for tomatoes from under my bunk. I got up and walked into the galley to see Lanie asking how to make a quesadilla, and no one knew what to cut. However, they managed to pull through and make some tortillas with a little bit of cheese. Next, we had our two classes. Shane went over the International crew terminology. We learned all about polypropylene line, fair leads, and types of boat hulls. After Hays, Brady, Lana, Mina, Brig, Sadie, Grayson, Payton, Andrew, and Alex took a Power Nap for 15 minutes before leadership. Nicole had us start class with a journal prompt, and then we had a values auction where we got to bid on our values. Hays ended up winning Religion, and Sadie won Friendship. Many people went all in on adventure and freedom.

After classes, watch team one was back on watch, and the “best” cheffing team went back to cheffing it up in the kitchen. Meanwhile, Mimi, Dylan, Hays, and I learned about polishing the fuel. The galley chaos started with the chefs forgetting to take out the chicken wings to defrost them, finding bugs in the rice, and boiling broccoli, cauliflower, onions, and garlic (not fully). However, dinner was not a total wreck due to guest stars helping, such as Payton and Macie. Sadly, dinner was a little late due to some of the catastrophes, so Sadie and Lizzy were on bow watch and Avery at the helm until dinner. After dinner, the question of the day was if the person to your left would go to jail, what would they go to jail for… There were a lot of interesting answers… I said Lanie would go to jail for poisoning people with her cooking. I think it is pretty accurate (love you, Lanie). Now I am here writing this blog with the occasional breaks for Meg to teach me how the water maker and generator work and how to turn them off. I am about to take a shower and finish my leadership essay along with Sadie, Ella, Payton, Logan, Lizzy, Alex, Emily, Emma, Hays, Lulu, Jack, and Dylan. On deck, watch team three is on watch and is steering the ship, hopefully straight to not hit a seamount (even though Nicole really wants to go check it out). Anyway, have a good night, or day, wherever you are. Have fun and be safe.
