Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda

Today, we didn’t sail like the previous days, but still had an eventful day. Our boat and others from the program reunited on the shore of Savannah Bay. Here, we practiced navigation on land with our buddies before our group from “Why Knot” continued to hike to the other side of the island. After the trek, we noticed the drastic change between the leeward and windward sides of the island. On the windward side of the island was a ginormous rock, which Gabriel, Arthur, and Dylan didn’t hesitate to climb as we explored. Once we arrived back on the boat, we began to prepare for our first navigation dive. This was an exciting moment because we completed most of this training dive without our instructors guiding us every kick. A highlight from this dive was finding moon jellyfish floating around and feeling more confident in the use of a compass underwater. Sloane and Ellis have been chefs today, making our delicious meals, and I commend Addy, Breckyn, and Ellory for cleaning the dishes after every meal. Also, any chance the dolphins’ students, such as Maddie, Zoe, and Kennedy, could continue their fish ID work?

Your skipper for the day,
