Why Knot

Good Morning from gorgeous Soper's Hole, BVI. We're so excited to meet our new shipmates. We've spent the past two weeks preparing the boats with everything we need to have an amazing summer. We have scrubbed the dinghies, loaded the Nutella, flown the flags, filled the tanks, and most importantly, lived and breathed our morning hype song to prepare for this day. Every single one of us is 30% sweat, 20% sunscreen, 50% rashguard, and 100% hype and ready!

But that doesn't give you enough about us, so here is a little about us from Why Knot.

Kyler- Dive Instructor / Marine Biologist
Kyler grew up worldwide, born in Australia, and moved to the UK and Canada. He earned his master's degree in marine biology at the University of Southampton in the UK, focusing on tropical reef ecology. Kyler joined ActionQuest as a student in 2016, then attended the following year, and proceeded to do a GoBeyond trip in 2018. He has been diving for 12 years and became a dive instructor to continue his passion. He spent much of his time growing up diving, skiing, and exploring all the corners of the world. Nowadays, he trains for endurance races, such as the Ironman triathlon events, hoping to make it to the World Championships. He is ready to explore the beautiful underwater world of the BVI with the next generation of AQ students and wants to share the same experience he received, like getting caught in your hammock when it rains!

Perry- Dive Instructor / Marine Biologist
Perry grew up in the seaside town of St. Augustine, Florida, where he has been in the water for longer than he can remember. During college, he was lucky enough to sail with Seamester from Fiji to Bali, igniting a love for sailing. After graduating with a degree in Marine Biology from the University of South Florida, he left to pursue a diving career in Thailand & Malaysia. Perry previously worked as a marine biologist in the Maldives before ActionQuest, and loves to combine his passions for diving and research. He is very excited to welcome our 12 shipmates aboard Why Knot.

Player- Dive Instructor
Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Player is a passionate water enthusiast and dedicated diver. He is a sophomore at the University of South Carolina and has spent his entire life around the water, from surfing to scuba diving. His diving journey began in 2022 when he attended ActionQuest after getting his Open Water Diver certification, eager to get his Advanced Open Water. Driven by a love for exploration and the ocean, Player continued his training, achieving Rescue in 2023 and Divemaster in 2024. In 2025, he reached a significant milestone by becoming a certified Dive Instructor, eager to share his passion with others

London- Skipper
London grew up in the Florida panhandle, surrounded by rivers, lakes, and the ocean. She spent many summers in the Keys or the Gulf, where she fell in love with the undersea world. After high school, she was lucky to join Seamester on S/V Argo, sailing from the BVI to Tahiti. This experience kick-started her passion for sailing and gave her the confidence to turn this love into a career. She has been able to sail on vessels from around the Keys to the shores of Oahu, from Alaska to Colombia. She has always loved sharing her knowledge and experience with others and continuing to learn more herself.
