Today might have started off sad by having to say goodbye to another camper, Lina, but the day was still an amazing way to finish off our time on the monohull. While breakfast was happening, I got to go to the skippers meeting to discuss the ins and outs of the final race. I picked the number 4 out of a hat to determine our number in the lineup of boats. We finished breakfast (bagels and cereal), cleanup, and got ready for the big race. Once we were ready, we got behind the boat, pulled the three from the hat, and prepared to start. Following the countdown from the VHF, we were off and started off well. Once our main sail and jib were out, we sailed really fast, getting up to 8 knots, maybe more! Peyton, Will, and Kiera were the ones to help get up the main sail, and Zaver and Thea helped put up the jib. Then Will and I ensured the Main Sheet and Jib were trimmed so Shape Up’s sails would be correct for the wind we were in. Chloe and Leo each had equal time on the helm, directing the boat through the rough seas. We battled it out with a baby boat (Meow or Never), securing our place at 3rd. Our monohull treated us well. Then, we had shore time! The girls, Peyton, Thea, Chloe, Lily, Kiera, and I went to eat, get coffee, and shop. The boys got food at the grocery store and also ate at the same place as us girls. We are now on the boat about to go to the final BBQ! Everybody is sad to go but happy to be home!
