Welcome to West End British Virgin Islands!

Over the last weeks, our team has been busy preparing for y’all’s arrival! We are so excited to welcome our shipmates to their new home for the next 21 days! After the crazy year we have had; we can barely contain our excitement to set sail with our new shipmates in the Caribbean. Our beautiful monohull named Breakaway will be heading out to Great Harbour Peter Island tomorrow with 12 new faces! We look forward to sharing all our exciting adventures with you along the way!

Meet your crew:

Hedrek  – Skipper

Hedrek grew up sailing around the North Coast of Cornwall and started working on boats professionally in 2019 as an engineer. He has since accrued some 8k nautical miles in a combination of deck and engine roles, sailing from Southampton to Turkey, from Dover to Finland, and spending a 6 month season sailing between Corfu and the Peloponnese. He worked as a teacher in the NGO sector in East Africa and has always loved imparting knowledge and the shared experience of learning. This is his first season with ActionQuest, and, holding his RYA Yachtmaster offshore, he feels ready to hit the ground running.

Sydnei – Dive Instructor/ Medical

Despite being born and raised in the cold city of Chicago, the warm beaches and ocean have always called Sydnei’s name. A recent graduate from the University of Miami, Sydnei studied graphic design and art history. Living in Florida allows her to spend as much time as she can in the sun and near the water, diving year-round. She teaches scuba classes at a local dive shop and goes out for fun dives when she has the time. She recently received her Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification and can teach 5 specialty certifications. She is a longtime alumnus of ActionQuest, starting as a student in 2015. Out of the water, she enjoys reading, playing tennis and badminton, and is an avid runner.

Alexandria – Dive Instructor

Alexandria grew up in a small town in south Texas, just a quick drive away from the Gulf Coast, where she first realized saltwater ran in her veins. Alexandria graduated from the University of North Texas with a BS in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing. During her studies, her passion for the world and her curiosity for other cultures took her across the ocean to places all over Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Australia. After a few years working in the corporate world, she decided to pack her life into a backpack and start traveling the world full time. It was her time in Australia and Thailand that opened her eyes to the world’s oceans and made her fall in love with scuba diving. She then spent several months on the island of Koh Tao, training with PADI instructors and falling in love with teaching diving. Alexandria describes herself as an overall optimistic and energetic person who you will probably find dancing around trying to bring everyone in on the fun. She is looking forward to her first summer working with ActionQuest.
