Location: West End, Tortola

After spending the night writing our cards we were all very tired, but all but one of the Boss Lady shipmates managed to rise at the extremely early time of 4:30 to hike up Spyglass Hill to watch the sunrise. However, the sunrise was a slight anticlimax after the steep climb to the top of the hill as the clouds covered the sun. But we were all still in high spirits as we scrambled back down to the dinghy to return to Boss Lady. Now that the hike was over we all knew that the hardest, most tiring and exhausting part of the trip remained, the Big Clean. The night before we all volunteered for jobs and everyone highly anticipated spending the morning cleaning in a hot, sweaty, environment. But before we cleaned we went for our last dive of the trip. It was all really sad for everyone as we set our dive equipment up for the last time. I enjoyed our final dive as we dove around some cool coral. But it was also my 50th dive, and I was so happy that I managed to reach my goal at the end of the trip. The Big Clean started on the way back to West End. For me, cleaning the boys’ head has to be the most disgusting thing I have ever done! Upon arrival at the dock, we all continued to clean until Boss Lady was spotless. Now I think every single one of us has finally realized that today is our last day together, the last time we will sail, dive, and have a great time with one another. All of us are now accomplished Rescue divers and over the three weeks have become like a family, even though we sometimes squabble with one another. This year has been amazing at AQ, and I can’t quite believe it’s over. Tomorrow morning will be full of emotional goodbyes, but I know we will all remain friends forever. Sam and Meg have been the best staff that we could have asked for and have helped make this the best experience ever.
