Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island

This morning the Yo Dawg crew woke up the smell of pancakes thanks to Teddy and Zara, and we all ate together as the staff left us for the staff meeting. While we were waiting for the staff to get back, we all hung out and played cards and worked on our fish identification journals. We then started to head towards our next dive spot, the Kodiak Queen. This wreck, which was sunk purposefully, is an artificial reef. We headed out on the dinghy with our dive gear and did our first backroll entry into the water. It started raining on our way over there, but we all made it in! We descended and found the reef as we surveyed the fish in the area. We recorded the fish on our slates, but unfortunately, our pencil was broken… but Liam came to the rescue as he started sharpening our pencil with his dive knife underwater. We all came back together and headed back to the dinghy. On the ride back, it started pouring rain, and we all got soaked as we derigged our dive gear. Once the rain stopped, we started making lunch and had some bean soup and sandwiches. We ate our food on the long journey over to the north side of the island, where the fun began. We ran into two other dive-side boats: Aqua Marine and Tropicool. We started tossing some fruit from boat to boat, catching as many as we could but unfortunately, some fell into the water. The tossing quickly became competitive, as we got into a fruit/egg war throwing things at each other’s boats. Finally, we arrived where we are sleeping for the night, where we ate chili for dinner and started setting up for our night dive. As we were about to get into the dinghy, lightning warnings stopped us from getting into the water. Our dive was pushed back because of the lightning, and we ended up getting our laundry back and cleaning the eggs and smashed fruit off from the side of the boat. Now we are about to do the squeeze, then head on our first self-navigated night dive! Today I had so much fun hanging out on the boat, surveying the amazing wreck dive site, starting and participating in food wars between boats, playing cards, and having some fun dance parties in the rain!! Can’t wait for tomorrow…
