Abraham Lincoln once said, “It’s not about the years in your life; it’s about the life in your years.” This quote is a big summary of our ActionQuest voyage these past three weeks that have gone by in a blink. It is unbelievable how far all of our shipmates have come in their individual goals for the trip, their ability to work together not only as a team but as a family, and in their personal growth as teenagers- which makes Liam, Catie, and myself incredibly proud of every one of them. I have personally watched as Will, Regina, Isabela, and Forrest have taken diving up by storm. Beyond having fine-tuned their skills, they should all be excited about their abilities in the water and for where their abilities and skills may take them in their future. Our other four Vega students, although I didn’t personally teach them as they were Tor’s students, have also come a long way since the beginning of the trip. There wasn’t a dive where Tor didn’t come up bragging about how good Jesse, JC, and Patrick all were at diving. We were also all super excited that Emma decided to give diving a second try and was able to get her PADI Scuba Diving Certification and is well on her way to the full open water dive cert. On the other side of our boat, our two Quest students have not only spent time giving back to the community but have also completed their CPR and first aid courses. Beyond them both being extraordinarily helpful on the boat, I know they have given back to the community here in a way they will never forget. Also, the whole boat is walking away from this trip with a whole lot of sailing experiences and new memories that they’ll have for a lifetime. I will genuinely miss our great crew that we have had the fortune of having onboard the last 21 days. I can’t wait to hear how every one of them do in the coming years.
