Location: West End, Tortola

As the session comes to a close, and the most beautiful sunset of the trip fades out of the sky, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the experiences that have culminated over the past 17 days. We can’t possibly sum up the entirety of the trip in one go, but we can at least attempt to share a few of the many highlights from this session. Most of our students have successfully completed their Open Water Scuba Diving courses, and we were so excited to take them on their first dive as certified divers at the wreck of the Rhone. We spent the session mastering wakeboarding and waterskiing behind the dinghies, expanding our sailing knowledge, cheffing up some delicious food in the kitchen, exploring the ocean, and perfecting backflips off our beloved dinghy Phoenix. After spending many nights learning about the logistics of sailing, all of our students had so much fun completing their sailing circles and man overboard drills to earn IYT crew certificates. All around we have had an action-packed, invigorating trip with many laughs and memories to last a lifetime. Although everyone is excited to get to see their families and friends at home, it is safe to say that that the final session of the summer on Lascaris will always have a special place in everyone’s hearts as its own kind of family. As we prepare to say goodbye, we are so thankful to those who have made this time and place feel like a home away from home, and we hope to see everyone back for summer 2020.
