As we came sailing into The Bight on Norman Island, many of the crew remarked how crazy it was to be spending our last night out on the water together. In the last 16 days, we have accomplished so many things, been to so many new places, and have shared so many memorable times. Jack, Nash and I are so extremely proud of all of our shipmates on board. Their passion for adventure, dedication to the program, and effort they have put forth on board our Spindrift has paid off. You can see it in the way they take responsibility for their daily jobs and how confident they have become in their boat handling and maneuvering. They are now more conscious in where they leave their items and how they get the boat ready for each new adventure we embark on every day. Our most recent achievements from our gallant crew are the scuba certifications that have been attained. Lexie, Michaela, Amy, Sara, Vanessa, Izzie, Olivier, Chris, and Riley have all received their Open Water Scuba Diver Certification. This means they are certified to dive anywhere in the world up to 60 feet! The looks on their faces as they came out of the water on their last dive were priceless. You could tell how proud of themselves (and each other) they were.
Meanwhile, Lockie and Jordan (Cookie D) received their Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver Certifications as well as specialty certifications as Underwater Naturalists and Boat Divers. Many students took their final sailing exams yesterday and will soon find out if they passed and received those certifications too. What a great way to end the summer!
