We are having so much fun on board Laurasia! It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through the program; time is just flying by. Everyone is beginning to get the hang of life aboard, and everyone has clicked together. It took some time for everyone to adjust to the job cycles and keeping our home clean, but as time has passed they have begun to work together as a team to accomplish the daily duties. They have been showing strong initiative and many of them have become leaders, encouraging and motivating their peers to do their best work. In fact, today they worked so well together today we baked them brownies as a reward for their hard work. Today all of the Vega shipmates passed their open water diver exam with flying colors. They are very close to becoming certified scuba divers. The past four days have been extra busy with activity rotations, with all of our shipmates doing things such as water skiing, windsurfing, scuba diving, beach games, hiking, small boat sailing, and more. They have also all been learning about navigation techniques and performed drills on practical marine skills such as picking up mooring balls and man-overboards. All of the scuba and sailing instructors are very impressed with the interest levels of the students and how quickly they are picking up the skills. It has been such a pleasure to watch this group become so close and to see everyone come out of their shells. Every one of the students has a unique personality that shines through. I think that it is safe to say that forming connections with shipmates and watching them change and grow together through this experience is what keeps the many of the staff members returning year after year to ActionQuest. Laurasia is no exception!
