Location: Marina Cay
Day 12
This morning we woke up somewhere over the rainbow π “Marina Cay”. Shortly after we woke up, my G’s Gene, Lindsay, and Maeve left for a staff meeting and left us to make pancakes. The chefs, Macy and Ana, Ruby, helped themβ¦ they were delicious, but we wanted some more, so Louis and Dani decided to cook some more pancakes π₯. We finished breakfast and started cleaning up when Gene, Lindsay, and Maeve came back. Shortly after, we set sail to the first dive site, Kodiak Queen. Kodiak Queen was one of the ships left from the Pearl Harbor attack, one of the five ships that survived. It was used as a U.S. Navy ship. After everything was done with Pearl Harbor, it was sent to Alaska and became a fishing vessel. In 2007, a rich guy bought and sank it and put a kraken statue to make it look like a kraken made the boat sink. In 2019 when the hurricane hit it destroyed most of it.
There are mostly just scraps now, and it would have been hard to recognize what it was if you didn’t know the back story. When we arrived to Kodiak queen we finished eating our lunch, set up our gear and went diving, it was amazing. Then we set sail to musk melon bay for our night dive. Underway we ate dinner, it was chili. When we got to Muskmelon, we scrubuddy dub dubbed the dishes and went on a “preview snorkel” of the sandy highway, which was our dive sight. On the snorkel, I could not see anything, and it was really cold π₯Ά. The second we got back to the boat π€ we got our scuba gear on and went on the dive. During the dive, Axel and I were dive buddies. It was a little colder than usual. We’re back on the boat now to fresh laundry and freshwater showers. After the freshwater showers, Maeve cooked us up some brownies, and now we’re going to bed π.
