Location: St. Barthelemy
After a night of eating burgers on a pier in St. Bart’s, we woke up to a great breakfast of eggs and sandwiches putting every condiment we had into them. A VHF chat followed preparing us for the VHF section of our sailing test later that night where we learned everything from the phonetic alphabet to sending mayday calls. We then had a little shore time where we talked in strictly the phonetic alphabet and got great gelato in a small French cafe. The gelato powered us through the sailing practices that followed. We practiced tacking, jibing, man overboard drills, points of sail and heaving to (everyone became an expert sailor.) But after a great day of sailing, it eventually had to come to an end. So we ended the day with a famous AQ chili dinner and called it a night after our VHF exam.
