Location: The Bight, Norman Island
After waking up at 1:30 this morning to pouring rain, we scrambled inside and tried to make a comfortable place to sleep. For me it was the floor of the galley with Layne. When we woke back up at 7am it was still raining, and continued to rain until about 12:30pm. All of our crew tried to stay positive and entertained during the terrible weather. We grabbed diet coke, candy, and many other useful things at the shops. When it finally cleared up a little we left the dock and attached our ship to a nearby mooring to wait for our two missing shipmates. Every day we assign a skipper, today it is me who drives the boat and oversees all the other tasks. Well, being the skipper on our first day of sailing was pretty nerve-wracking. Steering a 50 foot boat in wind and rough water is weird enough, but throw in ten other boats and it gets even worse! We are now at Norman Island and everyone is cleaning up the boat after our dinner of sloppy joes and mashed potatoes. The boat radio is going off tonight about plans and from what I’ve gathered the first dive chats are going on tonight. The Carinas are being picked up to go to a dive chat, but all of us Vegas are staying here for our chat. I can’t believe it’s only night two! We are all getting along so well and learning a lot about each other.
