Location: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
We awoke early on the morning of the 15th day of our voyage to a cereal breakfast which we quickly ate as we had a hike to the top of Mt. Sage. After we finished eating, we hopped in the dinghy and headed over to the dock for the briefing for our hike, which would be about five miles and would take us about 1700 feet above sea level. Our hike started at 7:40 and was more difficult than we expected, but no one quit. About an hour and a half later, we reached the peak and got a great view of the bay and all the ActionQuest vessels. We also got great banana smoothies from a small shop near the summit. After heading down, we spent some time in Cane Garden Bay and went to some shops and restaurants for lunch. In the early afternoon, we left to go to a small island called Sandy Cay for a sandcastle building competition. For our castle, we buried Devon (David) in the sand with only his head sticking out with some turtles made of sand surrounding him and wrote, “I hate sand -Devon.” The judges found the humor quite entertaining. After the sandcastle competition ended, we boarded our boats, took our saltwater showers, and went across the water to a beach for BBQ at Sidney’s Peace and Love, which consisted of chicken thighs and legs, pasta salad, salad, and chopped fruit. We also had music at the BBQ, and some people danced to it. It ended quite late, so we went back to our boat Yo Dawg and quickly went to bed, a long but enjoyable day completed.
