Location: Porto Venere, Italy

Today we went to Porto Venere. Each watch was three hours, while other people helped rig the boat. It took about eight hours to arrive. We had three sails up at one point, and we were sailing/motorboating pretty fast. Most of the time, the waves weren’t super choppy, and it was very relaxing. We had a sailing class and learned about the parts of the boat and the points of sail. Once we got onto the shore, by dinghy, we went to explore. We found a Gelato place and ate pizza. I thought the pizza was much better than the pizza in the U.S. Once we got back onto the boat, we had a diving contest, and it was a lot of fun. Some people went to the end of the bow of the boat and jumped off; other people did flips.
