Location: The Bight, Norman Island
This morning was an exciting one for many shipmates at AQ. Our first full day on the water! We started off our day at West End, Tortola. Early in the morning the AQ family met for a lecture with Mike (the director) informing us about what the next few weeks are going to be like, and what a great experience AQ is. Finally we were ready to leave. While on our way we were taught how to steer the boat and raise the sails. While sailing the beautiful Caribbean we encountered a few short rain showers that felt great after soaking in the hot sun. Afterward we arrived on Norman Island where we took our swim test, had fun swimming in the water, and went snorkeling! We explored the caves on the island and saw some really cool fish. As our day came to a close we all took a fun salt water shower and then had our dive talk. We reviewed our diving textbooks, watched a video to learn all the rules and safety of scuba diving. To follow we ate Sloppy Joe’s for dinner. This first dinner is going to be hard to beat on the list of best because of the awesome record that we broke of finishing a gallon of corn in one meal! Overall this first day at ActionQuest definitely sets the bar for the next three weeks that we will spend in the BVI.
