Today was more of a strange day than most. The day started with an 8 o’clock wake up. It was a slow morning, starting with breakfast burritos made by Chef Jack and Dive Instructor Hannah. Our first activity was learning to tie the monkey fist into a fun knot. Then we swapped boats with a catamaran from our mono-haul. After an hour or two, we started getting ready for our first double dive, starting at 1 o’clock. The first dive went well in the beginning until Joe had his contacts fall out. He had to end his dive and could not participate in the second dive. We all had a 30-minute break and then went for another 40-minute dive. However, this dive was better than the rest. My dive partners, Pat, Miguel, Jack, and Rodrigo, saw either a nursing shark or a white-tipped reef shark and plenty of lionfish. At the end of the dive, my partners and I came back to the boat perfectly, thanks to Miguel’s amazing underwater navigation. The girls, on the other hand, were not so skillful. They accidentally surfaced 4 boat lengths away from us thanks to Morgan’s underwhelming underwater navigation skills. We then put our gear away went back to our own mono-haul finally. Once we got there, we all showered quickly while Chef Joe and Hannah made a thanksgiving inspired meal with mashed potatoes, stuffing, and chicken. We ended the day with a sail chat hosted by Garret if you were in advanced sailing and Inês if you were in beginner sailing.
