Location: The Bight, Norman Island
Hi, I’m Piper, and I’m the first skipper of the trip! Today we all woke up early with the morning rain (as well as me falling off the bed) and started our first full day with a refueling before starting the 3-hour journey to the Bight. On the way there, everyone sat on the front of the boat, napping or getting splashed by waves or getting to know each other better. Along the way, we learned how to tie different sailing knots, how to control the sails, and how to navigate our new living quarters. We had our swimming tests (everyone passed!) and then headed out to snorkel through the caves, which were full of colorful fish, anemones, and jellyfish (which were thankfully harmless.) Everyone enjoyed a messy but delicious dinner of Sloppy Joe’s and mashed potatoes before settling in for the first diving seminar of the session! It’s been a long but really fulfilling day, and I feel like we all came out of it much closer (and a little sunburnt!)
