Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Day 7: MacKenzie
Our first shore day! We started off the morning bright and early at 6:00. We immediately set sail from Mountain Point to The Baths National Park. We learned the origin of the Baths name came from the African slave trade in the 17th and 18th centuries. The Baths were the place where slave owners washed the slaves after sailing the Atlantic before they were sent to auction. When we arrived, we took in the sprawling rocky terrain and clear blue water and also met up with some of the other AQ boats. We loved swimming and seeing people from the other boats. It was so cool to see and climb all over the natural formations. We got to cliff jump on some of the rocks and climb around. It was definitely a highlight for everyone on the Blind Ambition! After we headed back to the boat, we sailed to Spanish Town. The small island community was so welcoming. We enjoyed lunch at local restaurants and got a taste of authentic Caribbean cuisine. We picked up snacks at “Pinch-A-Penny,” a convenience store onshore. My group stopped and got ice cream and then headed back to the dock. We then sailed to Vixen Point. We hopped in the water to do our saltwater showers. Kackie made us veggie burgers with mashed potatoes, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We did our daily squeeze and said our favorite part of the day, and debated on what utensil we would use if we could only use one. We are ending our night with our last dive chat. Needless to say, today has been an awesome day and definitely a highlight of the trip for all of us.
Sending love from the blue waters of the BVI:)
