Location: West End, Tortola
Today we woke up around 6:30-7 am, ate cereal and oatmeal, cleaned up, got unhooked off the mooring ball, motored out of the harbor to meet with the other eight boats at the starting line and I was skipper of the day, so I started out the helm first with Diego and Skylar, Ella on the main halyard, Gino on the main sheet, and Tash and Alex on the lazy jacks. Smudge started the count down over the radio — 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, go! Then all nine boats raised the jib sheets as fast as possible then, within five to ten seconds, every boat was heeled over to the port side. The race took about two hours, and we ended in eight place, but we tried our hardest, and we worked great as friends. It feels like we’re a close family now. After that, we cleaned the whole boat while motoring back to West End, where we started out on day one. Tonight we’re going to have a BBQ.
