Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today we sailed to West End, the starting point of our first race. After some time ashore, we quickly hurried to ready the ship to be underway and reefed the sails because the winds were more than mildly gusty. When we left the harbor, we began timing ourselves, not racing the boats all at once due to the necessity to tack and the narrow channel. With a change in winds that were sadly not in our favor, Calypso came in third place with a time of 3 hours and 3 minutes, and all the tired shipmates retreated to the salon for our last sailing chat. After eagerly listening to our review for tomorrow’s sail theory test, we went to sleep with dreams of our IYT certifications.
