Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound

Today was an early morning for the people sleeping outside because we had to get going. We motored over to the Chimneys. We had an amazing breakfast of scrambled eggs and melon. After that, we got set up, got briefed, and jumped in! The Dolphins and Neptunes split up on their separate dives. These dives were certification dives for both groups. Dolphins were getting certified in underwater naturalist and the Neptunes in fish ID. The Dolphins had to find 5 vertebrates, 5 invertebrates, and 3 plants. The Neptunes had to identify 5 families of fish. After that, we went over to Bronco Billy’s. We ate some snacks and got ready to dive. We got briefed and got told what tasks to complete the dive. For Dolphins we had to find examples of the 3 types of symbioses: mutualism, parasitism, and commensalism. Neptunes had to identify 5 species of fish. We all enjoyed the dives and saw lots of fish. Some of the coolest things people saw were eels, lobsters, squirrelfish, parrotfish, and sea anemones. We had lunch after and ate tortilla soup. After lunch, we returned to Mountain Point and then continued over to Trellis Bay for dinner. We ate a delicious dinner of cheddar broccoli pasta and biscuits. During dinner, we saw a beautiful sunset right over Trellis Bay.
