Race Day and the Big Clean

Location: West End, Tortola
Author: Leah G.
Everyone was up pretty late writing their AQ cards and were a little sleepy this morning. I woke up early and surprised everyone with peanut butter and Nutella pancakes. Then I went to a skipper’s meeting with Al while everyone else got the boat ready to race from the Bight, around a channel marker in Road Town, and finishing at Peter Island. We placed fourth with Greg at the helm. Afterwards we began our huge clean of the boat, removing everyone last hair and speck of dirt both down below and on deck. We had a late lunch in West End where we docked for our final night. We have a BBQ on the dock tonight with all of AQ. Everyone’s all packed for fly day tomorrow and excited to be done cleaning. It’s been another fantastic session and I now all members of Wicked Good are leaving with awesome memories and new friendships that will be sure to last.

It’s Raining, It’s Raining

Location: The Bight, Norman Island
Author: Brook E.
This morning we were all not too excited to get out of bed early, so our staff changed that by blaring crazy Indian dance music and releasing air out of a tank on us (the pressure of the air is very loud!) With that said, we were up in a hurry and made our way to the RMS Rhone dive, where the divemasters show their final skill and lead a dive of our own. Most of us were quite nervous, thinking “what if I get lost?” Well as usual we were just over thinking things and everyone did great! Right after our dive it started pouring rain again, but luckily everyone was able to get their dives in. After our awesome wreck dive we had a relatively smooth sail to Norman Island, except when it started raining again. But it’s okay, it’s all part of being in the beautiful BVI!

Stormy Seas

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Author: Haley F.
Today we woke up at Sandy Spit. We were fortunate enough to be allowed to sleep in, aka we woke up at 7am. Sail side then proceeded to drag race to West End, where we came in last place- possibly due to the fact that we had tanks on board and two dinghies. Lunch in West End was delicious as usual. Everyone rushed to Pusser’s to get burgers. After the delicious meal we raced to Peter Island. Towards the end of the race our boat saw the most massive set of black clouds. The wind picked up and all of us got soaked with a combination of rain water and ocean water. Eventually we got the main sail down. The storm was the biggest I have seen at ActionQuest. Once we anchored we all made hot chocolate to warm ourselves up. We are now off to study for our upcoming test!
