An Ending To An Amazing Time

Location: West End, Tortola
Author: Logan R.
Day 20 started bright and early. When I woke up I went to a skipper’s meeting on Mike’s boat about today’s sailing race for the Pringles Cup. We were tired at first for the race at 8:45. The race lasted an hour and the Prosecutor finished fifth. While underway to West End we had the largest boat clean up of anyone’s entire life. It took as least three hours. Once we arrived at West End we began to clean the outside of the boat, which we had finished pretty quickly. Everybody had a job to do. We are now here at West End, where we will spend our final night. It has been an experience I will never forget. I will miss everyone on our boat and everyone at ActionQuest.

I can’t believe it’s our last full day on the water! However, life on board continues as if we’ll be here forever. Two days ago we dove the RMS Rhone, and despite some rough swells, everyone had an awesome day! Going diving with Mara and Ryan proved to be so much fun, and we saw a yellow and black eel, huge grouper, and some sweet coral on top of one of the most famous wrecks in the Caribbean! Melissa, Maddie, and Logan went for an amazing snorkel instead, and got to play with a very friendly turtle! Paola, Melissa, Ryan, Maxim, Greg, Alex, and Lydia all did phenomenal on their sailing exams and aced their knots. Marissa, Maddie, Melissa, Mara, Lydia, Paola and I took some quality girl time on the bow last night while the boys jammed down below. After, our family got back together for movie night on deck watching Happy Feet. Last night we had a special evening program that’s an AQ tradition and takes place on all AQ trips going on around the world. I hope everyone enjoyed it and cherished it as much as I do. It is always a great way to end the trip. It’s been a pleasure meeting and sailing with everyone on board the Prosecutor. It’s definitely been a wonderful 3 weeks and I’m excited that everyone was able to succeed with what they put their minds to.

Last Day On The Water

Location: The Bight, Norman Island

This morning all of the shipmates had the pleasure of sleeping in until 8 in the morning! So late! Once we woke up we all had the chance to go wakeboarding and waterskiing for the last time. After doing fun water sports we left for Road Town and had a nice three hours to spend on land. We all ate lunch and then walked around the town. After some downtime we all got onto the Prosecutor and prepared dinner all by ourselves while the staff was at a staff meeting. Independence! As we spent our last night underneath the stars, We all wrote each on other cards and started realizing that this amazing trip is about to come to an end.

One Time, In Paradise

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island

We woke up bright and early this morning to motor to the Rhone, today’s dive site. Shortly after arriving many of my shipmates took the theoretical exam to prove that they had learned all they needed to know in order to run a boat. After taking the test we hopped into the dinghy and made our way to the dive site. Snorkeling the Rhone was an amazing and an unforgettable experience. When we returned to the boat we had delicious chicken salad sandwiches and prepared for our next rotation, the hike. Thankfully this hike wasn’t as strenuous as our first one. The feeling of accomplishment was just as rewarding though. The view from the top of the hill we climbed was so beautiful. You could see everything from the islands far away to the other boats just like ours right below us. The chefs made a yummy meal for us that was probably my favorite so far. During dinner we talked about what the top thing to do on our bucket list is, mine being traveling to Australia. It’s weird to think that we only have two more days together. We’ve all grown so close. Today might have been my favorite day. Everything was perfect and I’m going to miss it so much when I leave in two weeks.

The Race

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island

On this day of the holiest of all holy races, I was thy skipper and I showed us a victory. Here’s how it went down: in the beginning of the day we woke up at Sandy Spit and set sail for West End where we started out. On the way, most of the shipmates took the ICC practical exam, which consisted of becoming a seaman of the sea. After our practicals, we arrived at West End and had a delicious meal in town. After we finished eating I was pulled aside for my skipper’s meeting to prepare for the race. After the briefing we set sail on our journey to Peter Island. By the skin of our teeth we finished in the top 5, and even hit 7.5 knots! After that we had a boat appreciation day and cleaned up our boat. Then we made a great Mexican feast and finished our day with a wonderful sail chat. It was a great day!
