Day 20- Last AQ Day

Location: West End, Tortola
Author: Alex W.
Today is a sad but great day. We woke up to the morning CD being blasted one last time. As we realize it is our last day we get sad, but then excited to eat breakfast. We got ready for our final race. I went to the skipper’s meeting with Jake at 7:30 The race started in The Bight then went to Road Town and rounded the marker after we passed it in the first place, passing Bella Vita. Then we went to Great Harbor and finished the race in first. This was a great way to end the great session. Now we are cleaning the boat like crazy to be able to go to port in West End one last t time. Today has been a really good day. I will miss this camp so much.

Day 19- Diving The Rhone

Location: The Bight, Norman Island
Author: Addison W.
Today we woke with a great breakfast of pancakes. It was a fantastic day, we first took our sailing tests and almost everyone passed! Then we had our last dive! We dove the RMS Rhone. It had some of the most amazing things ever. Later we sailed to the Bight. Along the way some of us took naps, the rest of us read and talked. We are all so excited for the race tomorrow, but sad to be going home.

Day 18

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Author: Katie C.
One day, I hope you may come to understand the story I am about to tell you, a story, of a day in the life of one ship, by the name, of Midnatt. You see, it began a fairly good day, the sun bright in the sky as she came to, the children in her hull just beginning to stir. Then, after several minutes of Jake screaming like a crazy person, (at least he was in my opinion). The next thing that happened was that a couple of the crew went wake boarding before dinner. For lunch they went to a restaurant in West End, then, after sailing under jib to the cove where we currently rest, the children had breakfast for dinner, and are now settling down to sleep.

Day 17- Race Day

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Author: Christian A.
It all started when we woke-up to the same morning song, and the smell of oatmeal. After clean up, we had our first skipper’s meeting. There every skipper from every boat that was racing got together to go over the rules and the routes. Sometime after that, we all raised our main sails and got ready at the starting line. We all got into our positions, and the race began. As fast as we could, we unfurled the jib and the boats were off. For about an hour we all raced to West End where we all got off to have lunch and contact our families and friends. After about 3 hours we all got back on our boats and got ready for our second race. This race was much more complicated because we had to go up wind, but we managed to power through with complete success; because success is a perspective. Now we are on Peter Island for the night and will have a sail chat and then an early night before tomorrow where we will go to Road Town.
