BVI: Session 2 - Squeaky Brat

Location: Sommer’s Beach, Tortola
This morning we woke up with Kygo (a singer) as every morning and had some delicious scrambled eggs for breakfast. After I got really excited because we were making Turks Head bracelets and I have been waiting for it for the whole trip. That was followed by water sports which I have to say were pretty epic because of Max’s and my 360s. We had soup for lunch which was a little bit strange because it was burning hot outside. It was a really nice day because we had a lot of chill time before sailing for about half an hour. At 5 we started getting ready for the beach BBQ.

The Most Chill Day Ever
Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island
Today was a super duper chill day. We started our morning off by waking up at the normal time (7 AM HELP) but the morning was a special one. Griff, Megan, and Sierra left the boat to ourselves while they were at a staff meeting. We made pancakes and dunked them into some yummy maple syrup. Clean up actually went pretty well to be honest (you never know what the Squeakybrat fam is up to). After all this we headed to Erocibar to do our first open water dive it actually was soooo much better than the confined water dives, you can actually see your buddies and see underwater animals. When scuba was over we had some pretty decent quesadillas for lunch. We then headed back to the boat, we set up the boom swing, and we had the privilege to backflip off the dinghy. Mike the director came over and showed us some crazy tricks of his of his dinghy. Shower time happened, it’s always an eventful part of the day. For dinner, we had chili and rice again, pretty good stuff. Now we’re off to another Lifeworks chat. That’s it for today!

Location: Marina Cay
We started the day with an early 6:50 wakeup. The chefs brought out the cereal and we all tucked into breakfast. We then had Griff explain to us that we would be doing man-over board drills. Jeremiah, the fender, was thrown overboard and all 12 of us retrieved it. One step closer to our sail certifications. We then sailed to Trellis Bay where we got our phones, food, and snacks. Marta lost her hat in the water, but Max H retrieved it. What a gentleman. We ended the day with a Lifeworks chat and some brownies.

Eat Sleep Sail
Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today we woke up and right after breakfast we jumped in the water and swam around while Captain Griffin tried to locate a leak that turned out to be the boys foxhole running tap. After we set sail to go get more water and we were able to practice our newly learned sailing skills. On our way back we got caught in a storm and then practiced our first man overboard drill on the man overboard life ring, because it fell off. Once we anchored back at Mt. Point we set up the boom swing and started our showers. Unfortunately, it started to rain again and we all got soaked. On the bright side, we got to use our newly fixed rain blocker, the dodger. We then ended our day with a summertime thanksgiving and a sail chat.

Dinner with Boss-Man
Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
After waking up to some great breakfast made by our chefs, we started off the day with some watersports. Most of the crew has taken the liking to kneeboarding, with the few who waterski and wakeboard. After the water sports, we went scuba diving for the second time. Included in this dive we learned how to take care of our buddies if they are injured during the dive. After our exciting dive, we had a great lunch of white bean soup. In the afternoon, we learned about the engine and other important parts of our boat. When we finished our lesson we had to hurry up and shower and prepare the boat for Director Mike on Remedy. When we had made the boat presentable, Director Mike was ready for us. The chicken and corn with salad dinner was delicious. After dinner, we did this activity with our director where we had to pick three postcards that describe us. I personally learned a lot about my new friends. Today was a fantastic day, and I know that it can only get better from here.
