Staff Update Day 20

Location: West End
Author: Emelia
Day 20 has come around far faster than anyone expected, but I guess it’s as they say; time flies when you’re having fun! The shipmates/crew have changed significantly since we first got them at the dock. No longer shy and quiet strangers in a new place, but a new family in it’s new home! One that will sadly have to break up soon as everyone jets off to their respective places they call home. They will leave knowing they gave it their all and lived the sailors life whilst learning and sharing their experience with other like-minded individuals and friends. After an awesome dive on the Rhone yesterday, our shipmates had their first, and only, relaxed and laid-back morning. Jorge and Gonzalo prepared a delicious pancake breakfast while Lucas continued to kill it with his morning music selection. After breakfast we took the crew for their last ski session. Max and Nick killed it on the slalom, while Marcelle showed off her sick moves on the kneeboard and Blanche rocked the wakeboard. On the short sail to Road Town, the capital of the BVI, Ashleigh, Tess and Sydney showed up the boys by raising the main sail. After a few hours at port, Victor set the tone for a high energy sail with one of his famous freestyle raps and Cesar blew our minds yet again with his French sarcasm. Jack, Bobby and Emelia are so proud of all the shipmates have accomplished. It’s been a great session!

Day 20- The Last of Our Days

Location: West End
Author: Max B.
Today we woke up the same as the other days, but I was especially tired due to the reason that I was up so late writing my cards to the other shipmates. After dragging myself out of bed I was happy to see that the prank Nick and I planned worked out perfectly and everyone had a great laugh. When breakfast ended Jack and I went to Pelican Pat, where we had the skipper’s meeting for the race. We showed up in our racing uniforms, which involved wearing fancy underwear on the outside of our pants and wearing an equally cool shirt. After the meeting we lined up for the race. We were in between the Prosecutor and Zourite in the second position. The race started and Zourite was ahead of us right away. It was difficult to catch up, but we kept a good distance. We stayed in second place the whole way, right up until the end. Although we didn’t win, finishing in second place was really fun. Following the race we went to the dock and started cleaning. Being back where we started has made me sad that the trip is over but I’ve had such a great time. As much as I’m sad to leave, I’m excited to go home and see my family again.

Day 18- Lazy Dayz

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Author: Victor K.
One of the things I love the most about this trip is being a skipper. On lazy days like this music is a priority. Extremely stressful job, I know. I think when the sun goes down it’s my favorite part of the day. When a few of us lay on the bow of the boat and talk about a bunch of things. The conversations get deep sometimes and it’s amazing how much people around the world can relate. Great minds think alike. It makes you realize that we’re all different yet somewhat on the same level with many beliefs and ways of thinking. What an awesome world we live in. Well, at the end of this kind of day, I can truthfully say this blog is the hardest thing to do in the entire day. Editor’s note: the shipmates of Celestial Storm spent the day at Salt Island, where they dove the wreck of the RMS Rhone, walked around the island, and took their written sailing tests.

Day 17- First Racing Day

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Author: Jorge A.
Today we had our first race. It was really fun and exciting. At first we had a good head start, but then two boats passed us, therefore we came in third, but somehow we were able to pass one of the boats in front of us and when we reached the end we became second place. After the fun race we reached a port, this port being the place where we started our voyage. In port some of us had breakfast and others had lunch. There were many shops therefore lots of us bought shirts, shorts, and bracelets. After that we had a second race and finished second. It was super fun and we had a blast!
