BVI: Session 1 - Luna Kahuna
Posted: Fri, Jun 23, 2017
Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today was a great day. We woke up late and had bagels with cream cheese and yogurt too. After breakfast, we sailed for 3 hours to GHP and then ate sandwiches for lunch. Then we went to another boat for our deep dive lecture. Then we went back to our boat and did our first ever-deep dive. It was awesome, we brought an egg down, cracked it open, and because of the pressure, the egg stayed together. After the deep dive, we went back to our boat to hang out until dinnertime. Tonight is Mexican night and I cant wait. After dinner, we are going to have our wreck dive chat. I can’t wait for tomorrow!

Fish ID and Underwater Naturalist Dive
Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Today we woke up bright and early and had some delicious French toast made by Evan and Ethan. After breakfast, the Neptune and Dolphin students split up so we could complete our fish ID and underwater naturalist dive. We saw so many different types of fish and lots of different coral. When we finished our dive, everyone started to clean up and get ready to motor over to Levericks Bay. At Levericks Bay, we all went for lunch and to the grocery store to stock up on snacks. Our last stop of the day was at Vixon Point where we snorkeled the mangroves and played games on the beach. After taking saltwater showers, we all dressed up for the barbecue that will start very soon. I’m so excited!

The shipmates and crew of Luna Kahuna woke up early and ate a wonderful scrambles egg breakfast made by our chefs. Then we hopped in the water and had our first fun dive of the day. After the dive, we ate mac n’ cheese for lunch and geared up for our second dive. It was a plane wreck dive and some of the group was able to swim through the plane. After that, we went to Happy Our and met up with their boat and Pure Joy to review Fish Identification. To finish our busy day, we had a lifeworks forum on Luna Kahuna.

Today we went to the Baths, a favorite of many ActionQuest returners. We swam from the swim line to shore. Most of us jumped off of Jumping Rock into the water. I stayed on the sidelines and took lots of photos of the people jumping. We didn’t swim for that long because there were some jellyfish, so instead, we hung out on the beach and still had lots of fun! The Dolphins are completing their Underwater Naturalist knowledge reviews while everyone else goofs off in the cockpit. We are all excited for our Beef Stroganoff dinner and our night dive! Our skipper, Matt, is even making us brownies tonight.

Today was the Neptune’s navigation dive. In the morning we had cereal for breakfast and then we had to load all of our dive equipment onto our dinghy, Aggressive, and drive it to Happy Our. We had a navigation lecture and then everyone had to finish their night diving knowledge reviews. We had an awesome lunch (PB&J) and then it was time to go diving. My buddy Jack and I were in the second dive group and we worked on our navigation skills. When we surfaced, we relaxed and then ate chili. Later tonight, we are having a night diving lecture. The day was very exciting and I cant wait to go to the Baths tomorrow.
