The Big Clean/Last Day

Location: West End, Tortola
Author: Caleigh S.
Today we woke up to a pleasant surprise of a huge amount of balloons in the staff’s cabin. Panasea successfully pranked us. We got them back though. Our plan involved 10 water guns. Just when Panasea sat down for breakfast we ambushed them on Zodiac. We got a bit bored so we drove over to the closest sail side boat and shot them. We also attacked a few people in Grand Cru while they were still sleeping in their hammocks. After our successful attacks we motored towards the Indians to have our last dive. My group saw a turtle and we tried to swim closer but it just swam away. We then got into a fin stealing party underwater. My mask got a lot of water in it from me laughing so much. We also saw a large trumpetfish and tiny juvenile angelfish. When we finished our dive we started our big clean. We cleaned Aftica from bow to stern. We currently are docked on West End, which is our final destination on the entire trip. While motoring into the marina I spotted a dolphin and everyone got to see it. Tonight we have our final BBQ that everyone (dive side and sail side) is going to. All of us are very sad today is our last day but we’re all excited to go home and see our friends and family. Aftica III feels like my second family and I’m going to be sad when we say goodbye but one of my favorite quotes says “don’t cry because its over, smile because it happened.”

Final Days

Location: The Bight
Author: Unknown
Today we woke up to pancakes for breakfast which was a nice treat. Afterwards we sailed to the Fearless wreck and had a great dive. We then sailed to Roadtown to enjoy our last few days together. We ate Chinese food which was amazing and got ice cream that was extremely delicious. Everyone went to Bolo’s market and got water guns for a water gun fight. Afterwards we sailed to the Bight and are about to eat broccoli Chedder pasta. Tonight we will have an end of program event that should be very interesting.

Enjoying Every Last Minute

Location: Great Harbor, Peter

Today was an awesome day. We woke up and had cereal for breakfast. We then sailed from GHP to our dive site by Cooper Island. After mooring and setting up our dive gear we dove the Kissing Wrecks which was very cool. After the dive we switched mooring balls and had super sandwiches for lunch. After cleaning up we dove the Beta Wreck which was really cool. After the dive we motored/sailed back to GHP. Once we arrived in GHP we studied for our scuba test tonight. Also Ben and Fritz made Quesadillas. We have become very close over the past 18 days and are sad to be leaving soon.

This morning we started off our day with oatmeal and ate underway. We headed to port which was West End, Tortola (where we started our trip). All the AQ kids were strolling along the docks, roaming into stores and eating lunch at either Pusser’s or this really good breakfast place next to Pusser’s. After we got back to our boats, Aftica III and Grand Cru had a race from West End to Great Harbor, Peter which lasted about 2 and a half hours! Grand Cru won but it was so fun! We had about 30 knots of wind! We finally got here and it started raining so our afternoon dive got canceled. Also, tonight is Mexican Night. Vlad and David were chefs. Once we finally finished cleaning up Mexican Night we chilled and waited for our cake to finished baking. Some went on an extra night dive too. Overall it was a fun and exciting day and we’re all sad that the end of our trip is nearing. But we all loved it!

Oh My Goodness! Chocolate Cake!

Location: Sandy Spit
Author: Henry E.
Today we got up from Sydney’s Peace and Love BBQ and had a great breakfast of pancakes and pink lemonade. We decked, did the dishes, and prepared our scuba gear. Then we headed for the Playgrounds. It is a great dive site. It had a lots of swim throughs and a variety of aquatic life. We saw stingrays and a turtle. We surfaced and had a delicious lunch of Ramen noodles. We waited a little while then went to Sandy Spit, a tiny island mostly consisting of sand. It was a pretty fun time. After a good amount of time at Sandy Spit we got in a dinghy and salt water showered. After that we ate franks and beans for dinner, which was delicious. We then had a Lifeworks forum about what we want to do with our lives. Then we ate a cake we baked earlier. It was great!
