Day 8 – The Rhone
Posted: Fri, Aug 5, 2016
Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
The morning started off like any other, with a light coral breakfast and a quiet, tired crew preparing to sail. That low energy morning quickly took on an air of excitement as we sailed through powerful rains, getting closer and closer to the famous wreck of the Rhone. Once in the water, sight of the “unsinkable” ship at the bottom of the sea was welcoming and familiar. Accompanied by groups of other divers, selfie crazed AQ students, and a huge barracuda known as ‘Debrickashaw,’ the exciting dive almost made up for missing the Salt Island hike. The absence of the hike left us with time to complete our second search and rescue training dive, and time to shower and relax for the evening. Concluding the night with a short lecture and some music, the day was a great ‘recharge’ before heading to port tomorrow.
