Day 8 – Diving The Rhone
Posted: Fri, Aug 5, 2016
Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today was more of a relaxed day. We woke up around 7 and then ate cereal , which the chefs of the day prepared for us. Then, we motored over to the Rhone wreck diving site. The Rhone was a royal mail ship. It carried passengers and was a steam ship. Passengers from another sister ship moved onto the Rhone. The Rhone then left the harbor to avoid the stage 4 hurricane. Unfortunately, it crashed. It sunk bow first and all the passengers were strapped to their beds so none of them made it. The bow sunk to 80 feet and the stern sunk at about 30 feet. When the boat sunk, the captain was drinking tea with a teaspoon and the pressure caused the teaspoon to stick to the wall. After we finished diving, we had grilled cheeses for lunch. Later, we sailed over to GHP, and then water-skied, wake boarded, knee boarded, and snorkeled our night dive site. We then had a dinner of chicken Caesar salad and risotto. Later we will go on a night dive. Overall, today was really fun and I can’t wait for tomorrow!
