Day 6 – Another Action Packed Day
Posted: Wed, Aug 3, 2016
Today was the 6th day my shipmates and me have spent on Rangitoto Too, and it kicked off to a fantastic start. We woke up to a dozen perfectly made egg sandwiches, made by Sarah. We all agreed this was by far the best breakfast of our trip so far! Immediately after, we were ushered to the bow where we assembled our dive gear for our first instructor-free dive! Benny and I joined up with Liam, Paul and Ethan and dove Mountain Point where we also coincidentally had out first night dive. We saw a puffer fish and a bunch of other things I would have never dreamed of seeing in the wild. Paul did a great job navigating and we surfaced right next to the boat. Next, we sailed out of Mountain Point and Matt successfully drove the boat through the Cow’s Mouth, where it is notoriously shallow and tight. We came 0.1 feet from the bottom at one point! Then we arrived at Leverick Bay where we got lunch as a boat and restocked on pop tarts and chips ahoy. After that, Neptunes met up on Great White for a dive lecture where we relearned some boat diving basics. Next, we came down to the beach to play some games and meet up with our sail side friends! I am currently getting ready for the beach BBQ, where I’m sure we will all have an incredible time. Each of the 6 days has been this action-packed and our boat is growing closer and closer by the second. We are all having the time of our lives and I can’t wait to see the rest of this journey out!
