Staff Update Day 1
Posted: Wed, Jul 8, 2015
Location: West End, Tortola
Welcome to Rossi! The staff have been spending the last couple days preparing for this day, and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our twelve shipmates. We have stocked the boat with dry food, fresh food, PADI open water diving manuals, IYT sailing books, waterski gear, medical supplies, cleaning supplies and everything else necessary to run an awesome trip- now we just need the crew! Our shipmates are from Minnesota, Illinois, Florida, Canada, California, Arizona, New York, Switzerland, Texas, England and Connecticut and are all part of the Vega (intro to sailing and diving) program. We can’t wait to go on our first sail and snorkel tomorrow, and for all the adventures to come! For additional updates during the trip, follow ActionQuest on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat!
Here is an introduction to the crew of Rossi:
Born 500 meters from the ocean in Rhode Island, Carolyn has been drawn to it from a young age. After being bitten by the sailing bug at 18 she spent her summers working on classic charter sailboats. She graduated from Brown University with a BA in International Relations in May 2014 and decided to take to the waters on any boat with sails. Having grown up with a French mother and German father, Carolyn has been traveling for as long as she can remember. Her most recent trips include India, Mauritius, South Korea, Belize and Australia. In the fall of 2014 she combined her love of the sea and living abroad by working aboard sailing vessels on the northern shores of New Zealand.
Quinlin- dive instructor/mate (not pictured)
Quinlin is a PADI scuba instructor who started diving through his parent’s recommendation at 13 years old. Soon after he started diving he found ActionQuest, which was the spark that caused him to pursue a carrier in diving. He is currently pursuing a bachelors degree in anthropology at The College of William and Mary.
Anna grew up in landlocked Western Massachusetts and discovered her love for the sea when she became an ActionQuest shipmate at age 16. After two summers as a shipmate and a year of high school onboard S/Y Ocean Star, she joined the ActionQuest staff in 2000. Anna graduated in 2004 from the University of Vermont with degrees in psychology and sociology, and spent four years volunteering as an EMT on a local ambulance. During the year Anna lives in Washington, DC and spends her free time volunteering with a local dog rescue organization.
