Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island
Today was a full rotation day. Us Questers went turtle tagging while the Vega’s went diving. In the afternoon both groups went on the Picos and learned to make Turk’s Head bracelets. There was no rain today, and to top off the adventures, we finished tonight with a thanksgiving dinner. The day went by in a blur, but catching a baby hawksbill turtle made it memorable. We went manta-tow style tagging, which entails being pulled by a ski line with snorkel gear on. It’s kind of like power snorkeling. Most of the time you don’t find any turtles, but you always get to see amazing fish. However, today we were lucky. The turtle was 21.6cm long. While the day was action packed, it is always nice to end with my shipmates relaxing on the boat.
